It's Official - Rod Hall Racing Secures 3 BITD Championships

It's Official, Rod Hall Racing won in three classes at the BITD Fabtech Desert Classic.  In doing so, the team captured three championships, taking the season total to FIVE.  This has definitely proven to be the best race year in the team's history.  We are now heading to the SCORE Championship banquet in Primm, with just enough time to clean off the dust and celebrate!

Fabtech Desert Classic - Tech & Contingency

It was a beautiful day in Henderson, Nevada.  Seems impossible it is only a few weeks before Christmas.  The team pre-ran the course early this morning, which is a short 48-mile loop.  Rod said it best, "the course covers the smallest amount of space of any race."  A maze of a course, it essentially zig-zags through the desert on the outskirts of Vegas.  We expect the visibility to be tough, especially if there is minimal wind.  

Obviously the team is focused on grabbing three additional championships to add to the SCORE victories.  However, it was a little bittersweet today as we know this is the last race of an incredibly successful year.   

Joining Rod for the first lap is a very special guest to the team.  KJ Howe ran the legendary Mint 400 for many years.  The Mint desert race attracted over 100,000 people to Las Vegas and was the largest event in the famed city for many years.  KJ is a dynamic, inspiring guy and we are excited to have him join us.  In the photo above, KJ poses with a Mint 400 fan in the tech line.

Fabtech Desert Classic

The team is heading today to Henderson, Nevada - site of the final race of the 2008 season.  All three teams under RHR are well positioned to bring home THREE class championships in the Best in the Desert (BITD) series.  Not bad, considering Rod Hall Racing just captured the Stock Full and Stock Mini class championships in the SCORE series at the Baja 1000.  This season truly has been the most successful for the team.  And five series championships would be unprecedented.

In BITD, Rod Hall Racing runs in the 3100 class, 4100 and 8100.  Essentially, these classes are stock mini, stock-full SUV and stock-full truck.  In SCORE, Josh and Chad compete in the same class - where SUVs and trucks race together.

I just spoke to Josh regarding his H2 SUT as it experienced some damage at the 1000 to the cross member and right front corner.  He reports the truck is prepped and ready, having been repaired this previous week - which also included some rewiring work and new steering parts.

He only has to finish his race to capture the class championships.
